The Honda Jazz 1.4 i-VTEC ES Plus 5 Door Hatchback is one of our larger vehicles available for lease. On the outside it looks a relatively neat, compact looking car, yet the interior opens up to offer masses of space, making it a perfect addition to the family.
This is the third generation Honda Jazz and it’s clear that Honda have upped their game in the style department as this model is infinitely more stylish than the last. The hope is that this new look will attract a younger market and blow away some of the fusty cobwebs that Honda had started to become associated with. Each model comes complete with an impressive array of standard kit including:
- DAB Radio
- Cruise control
- Automatic lights
- Automatic windscreen wipers
- Air conditioning
- ‘Magic’ rear seats (more on those later!)
- 16 inch alloy wheels
- Steering wheel audio controls
- Privacy glass
- 7 inch touchscreen (SE)
- Parking sensors (SE)
- Driving Assistance Safety Pack (SE)
- Keyless entry (EX)
- Rear view camera (EX)
- Climate control (EX)
- Sat-nav (SE and EX)
So, on to those so called ‘Magic’ rear seats. They basically allow the car owner to completely fold flat the rear seats in one rather nifty move, which results in a flat surface to carry big, bulky items. Great for taking rubbish to the dump, packing up to go camping, carrying your baby’s paraphernelia and transporting that same child’s worldly goods when they eventually move out and head to university! In fact, the Honda Jazz offers more interior room than most other cars in not only the same class, but also in the class above. With the seats up there’s a generous 354 litres of boot space, which is over 60 litres more than a Ford Fiesta, but with the ‘Magic’ seats down it increases to a whopping 1,314 litres. And it’s not just the boot that benefits from all the extra space, oh no, the driver and passengers also get 115mm more legroom and 20mm more shoulder room than they would have got in the previous model and Honda themselves claim that is more knee room than you would get in a Mercedes S-Class.
In terms of driveability, every model averages more than 50mpg and all of the engine/gearbox combinations have relatively low CO2 emissions. It’s a very easy car to drive, with a tight turning circle that makes parking an absolute breeze. The Jazz has also scored the maximum five stars in its Euro NCAP crash test and in addition every model comes complete with six airbags, stability control, active anti-whiplash head restraints, deadlocks, visible VIN and a fully integrated stereo proving that Honda has give considerable thought to safety and security.
